Buck, as many know him, is a classically trained botanist who has gardened for over 50 years. He has taught high school biology, worked as a museum curator, and has been the special publications director for the Indiana Academy of Science for 30 years. He authored and self-published Rantings of a Mad Botanist (2016). Bryophytes (mosses) and ethnobotany are two his specialties. He lives and gardens in NE Indianapolis
